I am reading: The Chocolate Wars: Inside the Secret Worlds of Mars and Hershey
I have just finished this book. Mars and Hershey are two of the most secretive companies in the world according to this book, published about ten years ago. They are worth billions each which is extraordinary considering that we are talking about candy. The book goes into a lot of detail about the foundation and history of two the largest confectionery companies in the world and of their founders, Forrest Mars Sr and Milton S Hershey. The book has a strong American perspective although it does go into some detail of the life of Mars in the UK. It’s quite heavy going but I found it a very interesting read from a business and entrpreneurship point of view.

First car journey of 2012. Two miles. Two emergency stops. One extremely stupid child running in front of me as I turned into a junction and one extremely stupid driver who pulled out of a junction in front of me. Let’s hope my miles per emergency stop increases as the year progresses

So this is 2012.. Hmm, an interesting concept.
I managed to sleep in so late today that I missed Karen. It always feels like Christmas is over when Karen goes home, but there are treats to look forward to that mean Christmas won’t officially be over for months!
I seem to have lost 3.5Lbs over Christmas which is both good news and a bit of a worry. Plenty of time to put it right now though.

It’s half past eight and all the shops are shut .. at least all of the shops I might have visited. Christmas Carol singalong now completed was great fun as it always is. I have reached the point now where there is nothing more that has to be done, nothing more that can be done in many cases. A sigh of relief and the weight lifts. All there is to do now is enjoy the Christmas spirit.

I have been playing around with the WordPress theme and I have replace the stock photographs with pictures from my own collection .. I will add some more soon but most of them look Ok. There is at least one photo of me. Try not to be too scared if it comes up…

So this is WordPress. Hmmm.. I have been umming and aahing about what to do with my web space for a while now so I have decided to have a crack with this. We’ll see how we get on….
